Serifos refuge
Nested on the rocks just a few meters away form the crystal waters of Lia- one of the most beautiful and least frequented beaches on the southeast coast of the island of Serifos in the Cyclades, this secluded house is the ideal setting for a quiet, relaxed vacation among friends. Built from local stone, it is part of a triple house complex which completely blends in the island’s rough landscape. It was designed by the Athenian architect George Zafiriou and his friend set designer Manolis Pantelidakis, while the third house belongs to their close friend, the famous Italian designer Paola Navone, who enjoys isolating herself in this quiet retreat in the company of her friends.
The complex was inspired by the simplicity of traditional local architecture, according to which every room is an independent building adjoined to the rest of the complex, and all together follow the morphology of the landscape. In the summertime the living here is easy and unpretentious. Wearing a sarong all day long, the three friends unwind spending their much of their time swimming in the neighboring beach, relaxing in the hammock in the courtyard, seeking the shade around the veranda dining table, or taking a siesta in the comfortable white couch designed by Paola Navone.
